Volunteer with us!

The Invasive Species Council of BC is currently running an exciting new initiative for people who are passionate about enhancing their local environments’, gaining hands-on training, and being a part of a growing network of like-minded youth and young adults. In three regions of B.C. (Greater Vancouver, Kamloops, and Williams Lake), young adults are volunteering to help protect their communities from new and spreading invasive species - whether on land, in parks and school yards, or in lakes and rivers.

The volunteer capacity of the program has been met.  If you are interested in volunteering with ISCBC, please email training@bcinvasives.ca.

Are you a current volunteer and interested in volunteering at INVASVIES 2020 ISCBC'S Annual Forum & AGM?  Fill out the application here.

What will you gain by volunteering?

Volunteering is free! In addition to fun and memorable experiences, you will gain:

  • Practical and hands-on work experience
  • Training opportunities
  • Knowledge of local invasive species issues and how to support healthy habitats
  • Trackable volunteer hours and professional references
  • A safe and inclusive space to feel welcome, supported, and valued

What will you do?

With the support of the ISCBC Facilitator, volunteers, as part of a team, will plan and put into action activities that support healthy habitats and communities free of invasive species. Activities could include:

  • Adopting a local park, school yard or trail
  • Organizing local community events
  • Creating social media videos
  • Cleaning up and restoring green spaces, beaches, and waterways
